Synopsis :

QUICKIES est une série de courts métrages de l’association des cinéastes luxembourgeois FILMREAKTER, lancée pendant la pandémie de Covid-19 par les réalisateurs Adolf El Assal et Govinda Van Maele. Le principe est simple :​ 18 cinéastes ont reçu chacun 2020 € pour produire un film de 10 minutes maximum. L’argent pouvait être distribué comme ils l’entendaient. Ils ont livré le film monté à date fixe pour une post-production sonore très rapide. Dès que chaque film était terminé, il était diffusé au public via de multiples plateformes : Internet, festivals, télévision.

When the filmmaker moved to Zurich in 2020 she found herself confined due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Isolated in her new apartment she discovered the city through super-8 footage from the 70th, left behind by her parents. She gets insight into bits of her parent’s life during the small period of their life spent in Zurich some 50 years ago. In “A propos de Zurich”, the filmmaker talks to her mother asking questions about choices in life and womanhood. As soon as the lockdown eases, the filmmaker grabs her camera and makes her way out to the city with the aim to join her mother on the other side of town.

April 2020. Theatres are closed, artists unemployed. The premiere of ” Auf hoher See“, popular author Eugen Schmidt-Brandhauser’s long awaited play, has been cancelled due to the pandemic. The Burgtheater Berlin has commissioned Corinna Anselm-Burger to direct the play on Zoom. A worldwide premiere! On board are Corinna’s husband, the famous actor Andreas Burger, as well as arthouse film star Gladys Wanderscheid. Martin Tauber will have to build a digital design - a challenge for Corinna’s favourite stage designer. But all of them share the excitement of finally being able to work again!

A concise and poetic short film, in which a man scrolls through his head through the words, a life that turns in circles. In his aimless race, his words carry him within himself in ramblings between anger and brutality, nostalgia and helplessness. It is at the turn of an encounter with a majestic, almost mystical animal, that man understands that he must deviate from his trajectory to find to see himself differently, to glimpse another chosen one, something that is not in front of him. him, but off the path he has traced until then.
